The FCC charges a $35 fee to obtain an initial Tech license. However, you can wait until after you pass the test to pay the fee<\/strong>. If you don\u2019t pass, testing documents are not submitted through channels to the FCC, and you won\u2019t have to pay the $35. <\/p>\n\n\n\nYou do need to bring with you to the test a $10 check payable to WCARS<\/strong>. Again, if you don\u2019t pass the test, the paperwork is not forwarded on, and you don\u2019t have to pay the $10. The $10 covers the administrative expenses of WCARS.<\/p>\n\n\n\nOnce the FCC receives your paperwork from WCARS, they will notify you that you owe $35, which you can pay on line at their website. Once you pay the fee, they will issue your call sign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
